Abstract
This study dealt with the economic, social demographic, and health. characteristics and the impact of social and economic situation and that of the poor health conditions of the deceased mothers on the increase or decrease in mortality rate being among the most important objectives of the study. The study also aims to identify the impact of mothers' levels of education and their awareness about how to use family planning methods as well as getting. acquainted with the impact of the profession of the husband and wife and their income level on increasing mortality rates. The study adopted several approaches including the inductive approach to addressing the problem of the study. and formulating and selecting hypotheses. The study also adopted the descriptive and statistical approaches to identify the levels and trends of maternal mortality and reproductive health. The sources used for data collection are observations, interviews, focus group discussions and case study. A sample of 70 families of deceased mothers in each of kosti Rabak, Eduiem, Eljablain and Tantalite locations, in the White Nile state during the period for 1-1-2014 to 1-9-2014 was identified and distributed was identified and distributed 111according to the number of deaths in the study areas. The study used the spss program to identify the impact of variation in social and economic characteristics on the trends of maternal mortality. The study found that far distances from the health unit center, lack of education among girls and marriage of the underage girls, lack of sufficient training for midwives , spread of direct diseases such as hypertension and postnatal bleeding and complications of pregnancy
such as pressure and diabetes have contributed significantly to the
increase in maternal mortality rates, The study recommended the
need to train medical staff and midwives, disseminate health
education through the media, appoint midwives so that they can be
punished of case of their failure ,improve of transportation in wet
season, upgrade rural hospitals to government hospitals and
eclampsia health centers to the rural areas. Furthermore, the study
recommended the need for prima gravitas and women with frequent
childbirths to be delivered under the care of qualified staff in the
hospital.
